The Eurovision Battle Royale 2037, also known as the Eurovision 2037, or the EBR 2037, or more simply Russia 2037, was the 22nd annual edition of the Battle Royale contest that took place in Russia. This was the 2nd edition to be hosted in Russia, the last of which having took place in 2031. A total of 56 countries announced their intent to participate in the event. The Battle Royale consisted of a quarterfinal stage consisting of the lowest placed 24 citizens of the last Eurovision, in which the top two qualified directly to the Grand Final and third to twelfth place qualified to the Group Stage. Following the quarterfinal was the group stage, where four groups of 24 citizens battled it out for a top eight position. The top 8 in each Group would qualify to the Grand Final, in which the remaining 36 citizens battled it out for the final win.
The host country, Russia, was the winning nation of the 21st edition the year before, which gave them automatic hosting responsibilities for this edition, as well as automatically qualifying them to the Grand Final. The other countries were obliged to compete in either the quarterfinal or the Group Stage, depending on their results in the previous edition. Each citizen was distributed randomly in their groups through a random draw.
The winner of this edition of the Eurovision Battle Royale was Fabienne Brunelle of France. Her win was noteable for the compassion and care she showed to the runner-up, Pieter Verschuele of Belgium, who had been stabbed by eventual-third place finisher Tyler Briggs of Northern Ireland. Lilliana Monroe of Northern Ireland and Karsten Therkildsen of Denmark completed the Top 5. The host country, Russia, had it's citizens finishing in 10th and 24th place. This edition is noteable statistically because it was the first time that a country had both it's citizens place in the top 5.
Arena[]
The Arena for this edition was decided on 23 October 2036. In continuing with tradition, each Group and the Grand Final had their own Arena.
Group A: Sochi []
Group B: Lake Baikal []
Group C: Vorkuta Gulag []
Group D: Southern Sakhalin []
Grand Final: St. Petersburg []
Format and Rules[]
The draw to determine in which Group each country would participate, as well as the podium numbers on which the host country's citizens would start, took place in the Kremlin, Moscow, on the 6th of December, 2036. Each country had until December 1st to announce their intent to participate in the Eurovision, and each country had until March 7, 2037 to submit their citizens.
The majority of countries chose their citizen through an internal selection, by means of a "Reaping". The reaping occurs when the governments of Europe, each organizes a televised lottery of their citizens where every single one, aged between 13 and 50, are obliged to have their names placed into a big pot of sorts, and after randomizing the names like a true lottery, one male and one female name are read out live on national television by government officials. These citizens are the reaped citizens to represent their country in the Eurovision. It's notable that each year the majority of citizens see this as an exciting honor, and many volunteer to be picked. To profit from this, it's necessary for each hopeful volunteer to pay money in order for their name to be entered more than once. This process could cost from as little as £50 in poorer countries, to £500 in more wealthy ones. The maximum number of times that a volunteer can have their name in a pot is 100. One would think that there wouldn't be that many volunteers for such a violent and life-ending event, but in this universe, the citizens of Europe look extremely positively on the event and see it as rebirth of the Golden Age of Ancient Greece and Rome; therefore, there are thousands of citizens each year who try to volunteer to bring glory and honor to their country.
In the build-up to the actual event, each reaped citizen is invited to many locations all throughout Europe to promote themselves, forge alliances with the other citizens, and talk with potential sponsors. These official parties are announced by the Event Organizers (EOs) usually around the start of the new year. These are televised and watched by millions as well, similar to how millions each year watch the red carpet for award shows.
The list of Official Parties for this year:
- Spain: Valencia (14 March)
- Bosnia & Herzegovina: Mostar (20 March)
- Czech Republic: Prague (4 April)
- Turkey: Istanbul (11 April)
These parties aren't obligatory however, and some alternatives to this include immediately moving into the Citizen's Village (usually a high-tec tower or complex located in or near the city center of the most populous city in the host country). In any case, citizens are obliged to move into the Citizen's Village before the 30th of April, 2037. This is because each citizen needs time to get their fitness up and competitive to put on an entertaining TV show, as well as acclimate to the host country. The EOs provide each country and citizen with their own team of trainers, cooks, stylists, and other specialists free of charge to ensure that each citizen can become fit and competitive enough so the Battle Royale will be as entertaining as ever. For the month that the citizens live there, they are encouraged to learn survival techniques and work out so their chances of survival in the harsh Arena increases.
The night before the first semi-final, the Opening Ceremony takes place. Comparable to Olympic ceremonies, this ceremony celebrates the history and culture of the host country, and further includes multiple shows of firework, music, and other cultural and ethnic performances, as well as high-tec displays and other pyrotechnics. Following the cultural show is the Parade of Nations. Each citizen from the participating countries were brought into the main complex (usually the widest and biggest street in the Capitol of the host country) on high-tec self-driving chariots and shown to billions worldwide. More so, each chariot was decorated with symbols from the country each citizen is from, and followed their national flag. As soon as the pomp and celebration finished, the EOs and government officials of the host country gave speeches, the Eurovision Battle Royale flag was raised with the host country's flag, and the citizen's oath. The final event of the ceremony is the lighting of the cauldron, performed by the winner of the previous edition in every edition so far except the first.
Following the Opening Ceremony, the citizens are forced into lockdown in the Citizen's Village until their semi-final. It is forbidden for a citizen to have prior knowledge to results in a semi-final or access to anything that could give them an advantage in their semi-final. In fact, the citizens are forced to go with television and internet until their semi-final. This is to assure that the suspense is retained and each citizen participates fairly.
Tie-Break rules for the Group Stage[]
- This applies to the Quarterfinal as well
- Top 8 remaining citizens in live to compete in the Grand Final
- Of those, they are firstly ranked by number of kills they have committed.
- If all is still tied, then the Degrees of Separation Rule is enforced.
- ex. Jan of Germany kills only Teo of Belgium. Teo of Belgium had killed 2 other citizens beforehand. Erik of Sweden only kills Andriy of Russia. Andriy of Russia had killed 1 citizen beforehand. Jan of Germany will be ranked higher than Erik of Sweden in the rankings.
- 4. If the citizens still have the same number of kills, then the tie-break favors the one that reached that number of kills the earliest.
- 5. This Degree of Separation Rule will continue until necessary.
- 6. If all is still tied, the tie-break favors those who are furthest away from pod numbers 12 and 13.
- 7. If all is still tied, the tie-break favors those whose age is furthest away from 31 and 32.
- 8. If all is still tied, then the citizens will share the position.
Quarterfinals[]
The lowest three performing countries' citizens in each of the four groups of the previous edition were forced to compete in the Quarterfinals. To not prolong the duration of the entire Eurovision, the Quarterfinal is usually placed in a tiny obstacle-filled Arena inside a sports stadium. The Quarterfinal is only meant to last 2 days at most.
This quarterfinal took place on 23 May, and lasted 3 hours, at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow.

The Grand Final []
Live from the Arena![]
Welcome to the start of the Eurovision Battle Royale 2037. We are coming to you live from , which is the location of this year's Arena. In just under 5 minutes, the thirty-two finalists who battled their way through the Group Stage will join the host country's own two automatic qualifiers and the two quarterfinalist qualifiers in the Arena, where they will commence a fight-to-the-death in which only one person will be left standing. That person will forever be honored as a hero in their country and have their name etched in the history books as a Eurovision Battle Royale champion. We can only imagine how nervous the competing citizens must be.
It looks like the citizens are being raised onto their pods. With all the pomp and months of preparations over with, we can finally say with delight: let the 22nd Eurovision Battle Royale begin!
Day 1 (June 12)[]
Summary []
The first day of this St. Petersburg Battle Royale has ended. Kauri, the #1 pre-final favorite to win, was killed in a most stupid way: he lost his balance at the start of the countdown, and was blown to bits! The rest of the day was uneventful, with Tarik of Bosnia and young Fabia of Andorra being killed by Florijanas of Lithuania and Ezekias of Greece, respectively.
Three citizens died, 33 remain.
Day 2 (June 13)[]
Summary []
The only death on this day was the exciting battle between Lithuania's Florijanas and Bulgaria's Naso. It was a close match between the two favorites, but Naso was able to bash Florijanas' head into the pavement just outside the Erarta Museum.
One citizen died, 32 remain.
Day 3 (June 14)[]
Summary []
This concludes Day 3. It seems like every day, a pre-final favorite is being killed! This time it was Fernando of Luxembourg; the Luxembourgeois of Portuguese descent was stalked and bludgeoned to death with a metal bar by the burly Latvian citizen, Vidmands. Later on in the night, the Slovak citizen happened upon the two sleeping Greeks. He decided to slit the throat of the one closest to him, which happened to be Filippa. Unfortunately, her ally Ezekias slept through the whole thing.
Two citizens died, 30 remain.
Day 4 (June 15)[]
Summary []
The trend continues! This time, it was Flaemingur's time to go. He was heavily favored to win after a stellar and brutal performance in the Group Stage, but he was surprised and shot with a bow and arrow right in front of the Church of the Savior on Blood. He had no fighting chance, and himself seemed shocked that he was managed to be taken down, especially by a teenage girl. Later on in the day, the two French citizens came back to their hide out in the eastern suburbs to find Jakob of Austria rummaging through their supplies. They chased him out and cornered him in an ally, where Fabienne beat him to death with a hammer.
Two citizens died, 28 remain.
Day 5 (June 16)[]
Summary []
The big talking point today was the drama between the Swedish and Italian citizens! Before the Group stage, Thea of Sweden had befriended the two Italian citizens, and was devastated to hear about the tragedy that occurred in their Group. She promised Emanuele that she would be there for him, and that he had to fight and live in honor of his now-dead girlfriend's memory. But Emanuele was too traumatized and heartbroken for accidentally killing her. It all became too much for him today. He and Thea were climbing to the rooftop of a building to get a better view of the city, when suddenly Emanuele rushed past her and ran straight off the edge of the building. Thea screamed and tried grabbing him, but he was determined to end his suffering. He fell four stories to the pavement. Thea rushed to the ground floor and to her shock, he was still alive. He was bleeding and had many broken bones, but was crying nevertheless. Thea knew she had to put him out of his misery, so she took off her sweater and strangled him until he was dead.
Two citizens died, 26 remain.
Day 6 (June 17)[]
Summary []
This concludes Day 6. Many thought Vidmands was a dark horse and was the strongest citizen in this Battle Royale Grand Final so far, but he was shockingly killed earlier this evening. The noise when he fought and killed Jozef of Slovakia attracted the attention of the two nearby Armenian citizens. They ambushed him soon after, and Varos busted his kneecaps to cripple him, then beat his face.
It is very interesting to note that, already a week in, there is no definite favorite or favorites to win so far. This is a very unusual and low-key Battle Royale Grand Final in that regard.
Two citizens died, 24 remain.
Day 7 (June 18)[]
Summary []
This concludes Day 7. The host nation suffered their first loss so far, in that Nyusha - their female citizen - was killed. Aad of Netherlands spotted her walking through a park and stalked her until she was vulnerable, then strangled her to death. Later on in the day, Marine of Georgia was killed by the traumatized-yet-focused Ezekias of Greece, near the Hermitage.
Two citizens died, 22 remain.
Day 8 (June 19)[]
There were no events today.
Day 9 (June 20)[]
Summary []
It was his turn to be ambushed. Varos of Armenia was separated from his ally Sharmagh, and whilst looking for her, happened to be seen by the two from Denmark. They also spotted him, and gave chase. He almost got away, but the near-middle-aged Lea shot him with an arrow, killing him. She then went back with Karsten, who knew that another Armenian citizen was around and the two went to look for her next.
Two citizens died, 20 remain.
Day 10 (June 21)[]
Summary []
This was definitely the most exciting day of action so far. Most of the ally-groups are now gone, and most seem to be on their own, except the French and Northern Irish. The two Danes finally found the other Armenia, and Karsten did the honors of killing her by waking her up from where she was sleeping form under a bush and lighting on fire. Sharmagh had no where to go, and though most people thought she was cruelly burned to death, official word is she died of smoke inhalation within a minute, and her body burned afterwards. Tough luck for the Danes though, as one of them was to die later that same day! Lea, while drinking water from the river, was subdued with a knife and drowned in it by Nicole of Moldova, who disappeared before Karsten came back to the scene.
Elsewhere, Group D winner Michael of England was killed by Maja, making her two-for-two on killing the big favorites. Unfortunately for Michael, he was nowhere in the Grand Final and showed none of the strength and fearsomeness he had in the Group Stage, making him less of a threat during the Grand Final and possibly leading to his death.
Five citizens died, 15 remain.
Day 11 (June 22)[]
Summary []
That concludes Day 11. Things are getting more and more exciting! The last remaining pre-final favorite, Pieter of Belgium, is finally showing why he was after nearly two weeks. He first killed 14 year old Thea this morning, when he spotted her looking through a trash bin. Later on in the day, he saw that Nicole of Moldova was trying to stalk him and possibly ambush him. He turned the tables on her, and surprised killed her insead by throwing a knife at her. It was also a victory for the Danish citizen. Karsten got two kills against the Icelandic and French citizens. Lastly, Aad is hoping to reverse the abysmal fortunes of the Netherlands at the EBR. Will he succeed? He got his second kill against huge now-former favorite Ezekias of Greece, by beating him in a nearly-half hour long fist fight.
Five citizens died, 10 remain.
Day 12 (June 23)[]
Attention Citizens: In light of recent events, the Cornucopia has been replenished with food and supplies. Good luck.
Summary []
This concludes Day 12. Russia, the host nation, is now officially out and is unable to claim a third Battle Royale victory, but it is commendable that they reached the top 10 again. Fabienne is looking like a real contender for victory, can she deliver? Maja of Macedonia just killed her third citizen, and third pre-final favorite, leaving many to see her as the odds on favorite to win, other than Fabienne of France, Karsten of Denmark, and Pieter of Belgium. Of course, there are always the Northern Irish. Citizens from that country always do well, and are frequently in the top 10. This year, like many before, the two Northern Irish are in it but have yet to show themselves. Are they waiting til the very end to win it all?
Three citizens died, 7 remain.
Day 13 (June 24)[]
There were no events today.
Day 14 (June 25)[]
Summary []
Oh, they were so close! Battle Royale fever had gripped the whole of the Netherlands like never before: 18 year old Aad had surprised everyone by making it this far, that for the first time in over 20 years, the Dutch thought they had a chance at winning, or at least making the top 5! Alas, their party is spoiled as they couldn't achieve either this year; the Northern Irish have finally come out of hiding, and ambushed and slit Aad's throat while walking near the river. It caused a huge wave of disappointment and small protests throughout the low-lying country. Who knows when they'll progress this far again?
Meanwhile, a statistical first will more-than-likely occur for the first time in the EBR's 22 year history: it will be the first time that a nation, Northern Ireland, will have two citizens featured in the top 5.
One citizen died, 6 remain.
Day 15 (June 26)[]
There were no events today.
Day 16 (June 27)[]
Summary []
The anticipation is building all throughout the world. We are now in our top 5! Surprising to many, Dodo of Macedonia was killed and misses out on a coveted Top 5 bonus for her country. It was Fabienne who killed her, getting her third kill and pushing her into a slight lead in the odds. It is nearly a three-way tie between the French, Belgian, and Danish citizen. Lilliana follows close behind, and Tyler is a ways back. The two Northern Irish aren't at all underestimated by anyone, though. If 22 years of Battle Royales have tought the world one thing, it is to expect the unexpected.
One citizen died, 5 remain.
Day 17 (June 28)[]
Summary []
What drama! We are now down to our final three citizens, after a botched ambush attempt leaves two dead. Karsten of Denmark, at this point skinnier from malnourishment, tried ambushing the two from Northern Ireland. Using weapons he looted from previous victims, he followed them to the Summer Garden, and threw a spear through Lilliana's abdomen. She collapsed, and Tyler saw Karsten charging at him. The two engaged in a fight, but because Karsten was starved, he had less energy. Tyler overpowered him after a few minutes and choked him to death. Meanwhile, Lilliana was lying on the grass bleeding out. She died only a few seconds after Karsten, leaving Tyler without a chance of saying goodbye to his ally.
Two citizens died, 3 remain.
Day 18 (June 29)[]
Summary []
And that's it! Ladies and Gentlemen, the winner of the 22nd Eurovision Battle Royale is Fabienne Brunelle of France, congratulations!
No one is surprised, as the Frenchwoman has dominated from the start. Tyler and Pieter crossed path's due to Arena disturbances, near the Ostrov theme park. The two had a huge fight, with both inflicting devastating wounds on the other. Tyler, the more healthy and less-battle-afflicted of the two, finally managed to stab Pieter in the chest with a sharp stone near them, and pushed him hard to the pavement. Pieter, through tears and yells of pain, could only look up as Tyler slowly caught his breath and prepared to stab him again. Just as he raised his stone, a light whisp sound filled the air. No one saw the arrows, no one even heard her coming. One minute camera's were focused on Pieter's bleeding, the next moment camera's panned to Tyler to see an arrow sticking into his chest. He dropped the stone in shock, looked down at the arrow, pulled it out slightly, then fell to the floor, dead in a growing pool of blood, eyes already glazed over and forever looking at the ferris wheel. Pieter looked on in dazed confusion and slight amazement, the 50 year old already feeling faint and nearing death due to rapid blood loss. His head fell back to the floor, eyes staring straight up at the Saint Petersburg sky. He was still alive, and just in time to see Fabienne of France come into view. She was cautious, with a rugged bow-and-arrow kit clutched in her hands as she approached the scene. Maybe she didn't know she was effectively the winner already?
She looked at Tyler's bloody body, then shifted her gaze to Pieter, still alive, breathing shallow breaths and with death very obviously near. The young and mousey fille kneeled down beside him, and to the shock of the world, held his hand. He could've been old enough to be her father, which is possibly why she showed such an act of compassion. She looked into his eyes and wiped the blood off his face as she held his hand and waited for him to bleed out, making sure that his last moments, though painful, would at least be peaceful.
A minute or so later, Pieter's breath shifted to nothingness as his eyes glazed over and the last firework went off, signaling his death and the end of the Battle Royale. Cameras caught Fabienne starting to tear up as she released Pieter's limp hand and threw the arrows to the floor.
